You can go back and fix mistakes.

You can alter any text you have out there. You can redirect your course of action and pick a new niche if one doesn’t pan out, or you don’t like it. You can use new strategies if others are fruitless.

I’ve been in that mood lately, along with trying to get rid of information overload–decluttering my brain, so to speak.

I enjoy writing PLR, but there is a tighter niche topic that does fit me better, or one I at least have a lot of knowledge in. This leaves me in a bit of a jam.

• Do I focus more on those niche topics?
• Do I use Sassy PLR or use a more fitting PLR domain for the topics?
• Do I just redirect domains to Sassy PLR?
• Do I use the same store?

I’m using getDPD. It has an affiliate program and all included. (More on that later.) Or do I set up a whole new system for a new store if I go that route?
So dang many decisions.

I eventually want to go with a system that can take care of everything. I know if you use DLGuard you can have multiple domains, but then you also need an affiliate program.
There’s also amember, which does everything, but it can only be on one domain, and that would work too even if I build other PLR stores, it CAN all be housed under Sassy PLR. But it might be a pain in the ass, although less of a pain than keeping up with separate systems.

If you’ve read PLR-ATM, you know it states to do what you can with what you have. Upgrades can be done later. And I plan to do that, I’m just not sure what the plan actually is yet.

More about getDPD
GetDPD is a nice little shopping cart and affiliate program. The biggest problem I’ve seen is it doesn’t alert you to new affiliates and it doesn’t automatically add your affiliates to an aweber list. That has to be done manually. However, it does pass that information to a customer aweber list for you.

So, it is extra work, but it’s a lot less work than Tiff started out with emailing all of her PLR packs manually. The woman has balls! But she built a business that way. It can be done. The main factor with getDPD is just getting a system going, checking your affiliate signups and getting them into an email list manually (and quickly.)

I can also add new stores, but I don’t know if it will be under the same pay plan. I haven’t investigated that because I haven’t needed it, yet.

Also, I have a dba as S&S Publications. I could just house it all under that and I have seen other marketers and providers do the same thing.

There’s just a lot of decisions I need to make and I want to make the right decision for now. Later I will need to make other decisions, but I need a “what works best now” decision.

For right now, it’s simply easier to use one store (even if I have multiple domains for PLR topics.) That will also allow affiliates to be in one place and promote everything from one source. Aaaand, right now, getDPD is affordable and upgradeable as my store grows.

But that still leaves the dilemma of having multiple domains or just Sassy PLR.

I’d love to hear your thoughts. Have you had any issues like this? What did you do to solve the problems?

I’d been reading a lot of material prior to last week. I’m signed up to several weekly or monthly courses, and many of those link to other things you need to know. So, of course, you go get that new thing and then you have to study that plan, with this plan. You know the drill; do this, do that, don’t forget this, or this or even that. By the time you list all of the things you should be doing, you brain is completely worn out and you still aren’t real damn sure where to start.

I always seem to have better luck if I go with my own flow and beat my own drum to whatever rhythm is in my head on any given day. If I plan it all out, it flops. I think I’m an unplanner. I’m good at making plans, but the follow through usually eludes me. Or I should say that staying on a well beaten path is not my strong point.
Information overload doesn’t help either. The sad part is we generally do this to ourselves. We start implementing one idea and within a week or two we feel like we need to do something different, or something else. The successful marketers are doing all of these things, why can’t we?

I think we miss the part where they tell us to focus on one thing for awhile–at least a few months. We start looking into traffic generation and list building, for example. I think the two go hand in hand myself. To build your list, you need traffic. The purpose of most of your content should be to get people to sign up for your list. The way you do that is to drive traffic with your content. It really should be that simple and it probably is, but I think we spend too much time thinking and worrying about it instead of just doing it.

I think you should also determine how you will get traffic and focus on that one thing for at least a month and then switch to something else. Let’s take article marketing and guest blogging. It’s easier to concentrate on one at a time for at least 30 days. Maybe that’s the wrong way, but it seems easier to manage if you do that. (However, if you’re in the PLR biz, you’re pretty much out of Ezine Articles and not sure how the other directories handle it.)

Do guest blogging for 30 days, then move to article marketing for 30 days, back to guest blogging, etc.

What about commenting on other blogs?
You should do that all of the time if there are blogs you enjoy following and you have something to add or a question to ask to get something clarified. Don’t comment just to get noticed. That’s tacky.

I have a point. I really do.
After all of this non-thinking for the past week, and by the way, a 9 hour LOTR trilogy is great for long periods of non-thinking time, I’m ready to start focusing on work again. But, even though I wasn’t thinking, I did decide that I may need (or want) a tighter niche with PLR. No major announcements yet, but with Tiffany’s branding challenge coming up, it may be a better fit for me to do something in a tighter niche. Sassy PLR will still be here and I will add to it, but there’s an area that I have a lot of knowledge and experience in. I may consider pursuing that in more depth.

My main point is to not overload yourself with too much. As Hans Johnson said recently, “learn and do.” That means you need to stay busy. Don’t look for more, look for less. Do 2 or 3 things each day to grow your business—and do the same things. Don’t change paths every day. I think that’s where a lot of us fail. We don’t stay consistent with the few things we should be focusing on.

What should you focus on?
You should focus on things that bring results but also the things you enjoy. Obviously, you won’t know about results until you try things, but you can do things you enjoy like commenting on other blogs, using Facebook to promote yourself or Twitter.

I have very little luck with Facebook, so it’s more of a personal playground for me. I do have some luck with Twitter, but it often gets buried in my things to do list.

Google+ may prove to be fruitful too. It’s a mixture of business and pleasure for me. More pleasure at this time since I’ve taken the week off, but it may be a better tool for me than FB has been. Time will tell on that one.

The Bottom Line
I’m not saying don’t follow expert advice. I’m saying to simplify things so they are manageable for you. If submitting to an article directory every day is too overwhelming, then concentrate on one per week, or two per week.

Pick 2 or 3 blogs to keep up with and comment on. You don’t need to follow 10 or 100 and expect to be able to keep up with that. It would be madness.

Just keep things simple and consistent. I was doing really well until I forgot that one little rule; consistently simple. Don’t make things more complicated than they need to be.

Top of my list is to fill my store with article packs. That should be my first business priority.
Second is helping others, even if I’m not sure how. Surely my mistakes and mishaps will help other people. If nothing else it can teach them what not to do, right?

Don’t think. Just do it!

Well, I am not feeling well today, but I decided to work on my Halloween party planning checklist pack. It was a lot of fun and I actually finished it. It contains a master list, to-do list, shopping list, planning lists—just a lot of lists. I put a Halloween border on it and some cool fonts. However, it does come with a plain old text file in case you want to format it yourself.

It also contains pdf files that you can put out immediately or use the doc files to add a footer with your website link. They can be completely edited. It contains one large master file with all of the checklists, plus it contains each checklist as a separate file. It ended up being 17 files total.

Rainy Days

It’s rained all day here in Branson with lots of rolling thunder. How I’ve missed rolling thunder. I told Kevin the other day I couldn’t wait for an all day rain and hear thunder roll across the sky. I got my wish. Yay!

Comfort Zone

Aren’t they comfy? Well, sometimes you have to step out of them. I’ve been doing more of that. When I finished the Halloween pack today, I sent an email off to another marketer to see if she wanted to promote it. I hope she does, but even if she doesn’t, just getting out of my comfort zone was rewarding.

The more you do this, the easier it gets. If I’m going to run a PLR business, I will have to get used to doing these things. This was good experience. Are you getting out of your comfort zone?

I had other stuff to talk about, but the icky feeling is returning. It seems like a good day to spend piled on the couch watching a Lord of the Rings marathon.
